18 Private Universities Banned From Admission in Different Programs

Higher Education Department (HED) of Punjab has banned admission in certain programs in as much as 18 universities and degree awarding institutes in the province. 

Hence, these institutes cannot permit any student an admission in their unapproved and unaccredited faculties, departments or programmes. 

Reason For The Ban 

Apparently, reports by the News reveals that these universities 

1. Had not sought the approval of the Chancellor for specific programmes. 

2. No accreditation was obtained from regulatory and registration bodies such as Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). 

3.  Sub-campuses of certain universities were also established without any approval. 

1) University Of Management & Technology (UMT), Lahore 

School of Architecture and Planning – BS Architecture (Fall only), BS City and Regional Planning, School of Health Sciences: Doctor of Physiotherapy, Doctor of Nutrition Sciences, BS Medical Laboratory Sciences, NS Medical Imaging and Ultrasonography, School of Food and Agricultural Sciences – BS Food Technology, BS Dairy Technology, BS Integrated Agriculture Management. Institute of Aviation Studies – BS Aviation Management, BS Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology with EASA part 66 License (B3 and B1.2) affiliated with Germany, Institute of Islamic Banking – BS Islamic Banking and Finance, School of System & Technology. 

2) University Of Central Punjab (UCP)

The above universities have been warned to fulfill the requirements of HED. They have been given a deadline of 26th September to get their unapproved programs and sub-campuses registered.
